On May 13th starting at 10 am, the East Side Bike Club will have it’s kick-off event “Rise up and Ride,” at MARTIN LUTHER KING JR PARK
The ultimate antidote for the alienation of the digital age is community. In an unprecedented time of ideological and political divisions, the East Side Bike Club is inviting the people of the City of Buffalo to Martin Luther King Jr. Park for a kick of day of fun. The event, “Rise up and Ride”
The brains behind the event, Nora Feldertruman and Lori Lozano have worked for months to put together an event that will include a kid’s rodeo, bike safety checks, Reddy Bike Race (Buffalo’s own bike share bikes) as well as face painting and other fun activities for kids.
The East Side Bike Club a year old this June, has been a magnet for the burgeoning cycling community on the East Side of Buffalo. The East Side Bike Club has inspired other cycling groups like Jes Roll another East Side club. Over the productive year, we’ve set up a Community Workshop, hosted fundraisers and given away bikes to kids for Christmas.
Rise up and Ride is a free event that is open to the general public. We ask with children under the age of 18 are accompanied by an adult. Please come to register at 9 am.
To maintain Buffalo’s economic renaissance, community is crucial. Come help us build a diverse, strong and beautiful bike community! All are welcome.
Registration Begins – 9:30 am (near parking lot along Best St)
Event Time- 10:00am -12:00pm
East Side Bike Club Inaugural Youth Ride- (under 13 with parent/guardian – around the park trail) 12:15pm
East Side Bike Club Adult Group Ride (10 miles) 12:15pm
**Helmets must be worn for all ESBC rides.
East Side Bike Club helmets ($15) and dri fit shirts ($20) will be available for sale, limited quantities – cash only
